Checkmate is a metaverse-based mental health support application designed to assist Hong Kong students and citizens struggling with stress and emotional problems. It combines a mobile app and VR services to provide a private and innovative channel for letting off steam.

The app offers an AI-powered chatbot mode, allowing users to anonymously vent their innermost concerns, with their conversation history recorded to provide more personalized service. The VR service in cooperative community centers, built on the Cospaces platform, creates diverse virtual environments for users to choose from, and features online consultations with mental health professionals. Severe cases are referred to specialized experts for further assistance. VIP users can even be randomly paired with real people to chat and befriend within the virtual world.

By combining the accessibility and anonymity of a mobile app with the therapeutic potential of virtual reality, Checkmate offers a unique and tailored approach to address the growing mental health challenges faced by the Hong Kong community. The platform ‘s diverse service offerings and subscription options cater to the diverse needs and financial circumstances of its users, ensuring that mental health support is accessible to all who require it.
